Cattle Egret
Cyprus is a very good p[lace to see Cattle Egret they can be seen all over the island especially during the Sprng migration and Autumn migration. I believe that Cattle Egret have bred at Orklini marsh this year. These images were taken at Larnaca sewage works and Phassouri marshes.

Cattle Egret
I took these images of Cattle Egret posing elegantly with cattle at Phassouri marsh when I visited recently in October. There were 4 or 5 cattle Egret although it was not possible to get too close to them .This remains a great place to try and capture images of Cattle Egret as I have seen these birds there on many occasions and there are usually cattle in the grazing there. The images were taken at midday so the light was pretty harsh but I quite like the posing and standing on on the cows.

Cattle Egret

I took these images of Cattle Egret at Phasouri Reedbed near Akrotiri in Cyprus during my recent visit there. These birds were quite confiding and I was able to get quite close and took these images via the open car window. As you can see in image 2 and 3 one of the Egret plucked a small snake from the bushes and had no difficulty eating it. These birds were in the vacinity of cattle in the Reedbed and seemed happy feeding by the cows. I had more images of these birds on a memorycard that I have lost I hope to find this when I return to Cyprus later in the year.
